Name Changes

Company Name Changes

This page allows you to change the name of your registered company. You first need to reserve a name, then do the name change once your proposed name has been approved. The service is only for all company types, not close corporations or co-operatives. Please refer to the CIPC website for details on name changes for close corporations and co-operatives.

A name change costs R250. The amount is waived if the company currently does not have a name; which means that the current name is the same as the registration number, with the words (South Africa) appended at the end.

PLEASE NOTE THAT CURRENTLY YOU MAY ONLY DO A COMPANY CHANGE FOR COMPANIES WITHOUT NAMES. USE THE CIPC eSERVICES WEBSITE FOR COMPANIES THAT ALREADY HAVE NAMES.

Name Reservation

You may apply for between 1 and 4 proposed names during an application process, which costs R50. If your name reservation application is not approved, you will need to apply for new names at another cost of R50.
